Track: Combining society and farming

Cor van der Weele is special professor of humanistic philosophy at Wageningen University. She was trained as a biologist and a philosopher and wrote her PhD thesis in the philosophy of biology. She has been studying changing appreciations of meat and cultured meat for more than a decade, for example by talking to citizens in focus groups. More generally, she is interested in processes of societal change and mechanisms of selective attention. At present, she conducts focus groups with farmers, wondering if and how cultured meat might be an opportunity for farmers.
